… like my legs are made of timber… sooo heavy. My brain is numb. My tummy is growling. Translated into: I am absolutely tired. Didn’t think theatre would last that long. Nine whole hours of being on my feet the whole day, observing, assisting, doing, yawning, humming during hysteroscopies, c-sections, mirena insertions bla di bla… [...]

exhale…
I still haven’t seen the head of the team since he’s always busy. I hope he won’t think that I’m some lazy student just because I was never with him.
What I’ve done:
- emergency admissions: normal stuff like checking the breathing, heart and I did a speculum after months of leaving speculum-y things behind.
- ante natal [...]

I cross this bridge daily to reach the hospital
Athlone – jam
and i’m already starting to miss mullingar. the doctors (funny Dr. K with his dance moves and catchy ring tone, straight faced + wicked sense of humour Dr M, absolutely patient Dr N, the cute paediatrician … nearly everyone there. Missing the relaxed [...]

sudden on call :)

Sudden on call. I didn’t expect it. Turned out that one of the guys had enough of on calls and baby deliveries. So, I asked if I can replace him and be on call yesterday. So, here I am, after 30 hours plus, back at home. It was supposed to be 24 hours, but I [...]

Walnut’s brother came and went. I was on the phone, talking to everyone back home, so, didn’t get to meet him. I thought it was the landlord at first. That’s why I didn’t get out of my room. Mr Keane looks pretty scary if you ask me. I’m not sure if he’s going to stay [...]

Great time today, despite last night’s last minute work. I had to present a case on this lady and I managed to get her history late evening. Glad to say that it wasn’t all that complicated and no tough questions were asked. I might’ve muttered something about playing computer games when I know very well [...]

emergency on call was ok. from a trickle of patients in the morning, it began to get congested by mid morning. and they say that today’s considered ok… could’ve been worse. nothing particularly remarkable about it. i did leave a while to see some ultrasounds and checked the ante natal clinic for a bit, just [...]

i shadowed Dr M0ses just now, during the ante natal clinic. He’s nice. Managed to squeeze2 people’s tummy and sometimes, i could feel the baby’s head. Sometimes, not so. dunno, maybe i’ll get used to it later on. he said i would.
Every time. EVERY TIME. i’d only realize how much i like the team in [...]

ok, i’ve just woken up from a 5-hour sleep. after being up for most of the 24-hour on call, this is the best. good thing that there’s only one lecture today. i managed to go to one tutorial right after i finished my on call, then poof! all energy dissipated and i went home.
on the [...]
