… like my legs are made of timber… sooo heavy. My brain is numb. My tummy is growling. Translated into: I am absolutely tired. Didn’t think theatre would last that long. Nine whole hours of being on my feet the whole day, observing, assisting, doing, yawning, humming during hysteroscopies, c-sections, mirena insertions bla di bla… [...]

with everything for this year.
It’s 12.05am and I’m busy with my paintbrush while listening to Jpop. I managed to spill a glass of murky water on my laptop. Just a bit. Not enough to destroy it, I hope. Now, I’m painting a muffin. I’ve been wanting to do a muffin for ages, dunno [...]

Before psychiatry orals.
Nothing really.
Just a picture of a leaf.
Time out.
Ugly eh.
But it was fun, reduced the stress level and I love red anyway.

Everyone’s finished for the year except us! How come we’re always the last to finish? Last year – same thing. This year is the worst. More than a month of exams. One on top of the other. It’s a never ending thing. I’m getting really tired of all this. I’m all blunted and bleh.

No choices in answering for all the written papers. We have to do all the questions. I guess because in real life, you don’t get a choice on whether you want to treat a patient or not. That’s their way of training us. Peh. And all MCQs (multiple choice Qs) have negative marking which translates [...]

We did the video recording this morning and I found a schizophrenic patient to interview. To tell you the truth, it was a bit tricky trying to make sense of what he was saying. Most of the time, I was nodding without understanding. Only after that did the doctor tell me that he’s not actually [...]

Typical Irish weather yesterday. I thought the day would go on as it usually would in Enn1s: a quiet morning at the day hospital, see a few patients, lunch and the rest. But not so. There was an emergency call from the nursing home that morning. Someone fell down, hard. The woman on the other [...]

YAY!! I’m home! I’ve been missing my bed, my bonsai (which is still alive, thank God), everything. Being away was different compared to the previous attachment. Of course. And the people there are far weirder than in Galway. The place is doughnut shaped, so, I couldn’t possibly get lost, said the nurse. But being me, [...]

I took a history from my first patient. Good experience, that’s all I can say. I guess psych’s not all that bad. I’m starting to like it. But I am soooo tired. Who said that it’s relaxing? I’ve been in the wards in between lectures and tutorials all day today. Maybe it’ll be less hectic [...]

I HATE PSYCHIATRY!!!
Well, not really. But it’s such a far cry from O&G. Probably because I’m not used to it. It’s just that it’s… too bland? or something. Not as fast paced and busy as O&G. No blood, no babies, no scrubbing in. I can’t even get myself to take a history because I have [...]
